Morphology: un- & non-

Morphology un- & non- - English (Set 3.2) (1).pdf (2.65 MB)

The prefixes un- and non- mean not.

In this work, children match the words with their definition and a sentence. Blank cards are included so that children may add new words as they find them in their reading. These words are different than those in the CKLA workbook so that children have additional practice opportunities. As an extension, you may consider having children write additional sentences for each word.

Words included:

  • nonfiction - (adjective) writing that is not fiction - I read a ___________ book about turtles, and I learned many facts.

  • nondescript - (adjective) not having special characteristics (plain) - The kid was wearing a _________ t-shirt; it didn’t have any writing or graphics.

  • nonfat - (adjective) not having any fat - The man was trying to stay healthy, so he ate ________ yogurt instead of ice cream.

  • nonsense - (noun) something that does not make sense - I couldn’t understand the toddler’s writing. It looked like _________.
